Hard water is a very common problem for millions of households across the country. Water described as hard is high in dissolved minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium.
Hard water is a nuisance because of mineral buildup on fixtures which can be felt over a period of time. It contributes to inefficient and costly operation of water- using appliances. Thus, in water heaters the heated hard water forms a scale of calcium and magnesium minerals (limescale deposits) on the walls and reduces the heat conductivity of heaters sometimes leading to its breakdown. Limescale has been know to increase energy bills by up to 25%. the scale formed on the heating element reduces the heat transmission and causes early failure of the element.

All water heater tanks rely on a 'lining' to protect from corrosion. Both stainless steel and copper tanks rely on protective oxide films, which are capable of breakdown. At VENUS we have recognized this problem and have incorporated various measures to provide Hard Water Protection in its range of water heaters.
Porcelain Enamel Technology
Venus has porcelain enamel glass lined tanks, the latest technology from Europe in its range of water heaters. Porcelain enamel is a glass line coating which is fused at 830 deg C to create a mechanical bond with the metal substrate. This makes the vitreous enamel layer robust and inert, protecting the underlying steel from rust and corrosion. Magnesium Anode
To enhance hard water protection a magnesium anode is fitted. The anode is used to protect any minute areas not covered by enamel lining. It acts as a sacrificial rod which takes the corrosion attack and extends the life of the tank. Thus, VENUS water heaters gives the assurance of reliable performance and long lasting performance even in hard water areas.
Porcelain Enamel Glass Lined Heating Element
In addition to the glass lined tank the heaters are fitted with Porcelain Enamel glass lined element Assembly which has a protective enamel coating over the heating element housing which gives high corrosion resistance, reduces scale formation and ensures longer element life even in hard water areas. The glass lined element reduces scaling by 50% and increases heating efficiency.
